Two years ago my best friend, Tiffany Pittman, handmade me a birthday present. It has hung in several places of mine as I have moved throughout Los Angeles and back to Nashville. Something simple that she knew would encourage and inspire me. One painting with scripture and one with a quote from our sorority.
These are my most valued pieces of art because of the effort that went into them. The thought and intention is worth so much more than an expensive piece from a gallery. (Not that I have any of those.. but I'm just sayin!)
While brainstorming ideas with my friend, Sasha, I kept coming back to the idea of these. I am the type of person who keeps post-it notes on her bathroom mirror for daily inspiration. What better way to get creative than to create pieces that will inspire others. Through variations of color scheme, quotes & scripture, and texture, I feel I can create pieces for any atmosphere. From a child's room to an executive's office. From a country kitchen to a little girl's pink princess bedroom. Everyone needs inspiration and positive thoughts around them. I know I'd much rather have a canvas with my favorite quotes rather than a yellow flower shaped post-it with smeared black ink pen. Am I right?
So, I shall set off on this venture and see what comes of it. I'll let you know in a week or so. :)
